Today, again, practice was only Kenny Sensei and me.  We practised Torei, Inazuma #1, Oshinuki #2, and Yokemi #3.  Of course there were many important points about each technique.  However, I will only mention a few now.

First, when we draw the katana out of the saya, when getting ready to make a cut, we must draw almost all the way to the tip of the sword (in Japanese: kissaki made).  For example, at the beginning of Yokemi #3, we draw the sword out of the saya almost to the kissaki, then we bring the sword to in front of the head to block the opponent's front strike.  It is similar in other techniques.

Second, in Yokemi #3, when we make the side strike to our opponent's temple, we use the power of the right hand fingers to turn the sword; we do not use the arm muscles.  This is difficult to do but easy to say.

Third, again in Yokemi #3, when we prepare for and perform the stabbing motion (the blade is upside down, with the right hand near our right ear): the left hand must be in the centre of the body, palm open, ready to receive the top of the katana (the part that is not sharp; in Japanese: mine).  Once the mine is in the left hand, the left fingers close into the shinogi.  When making the stab, the left hand stays in place; it is only the right hand that moves in order to make the stabbing motion.
